Our program utilizes the High/Scope Infant/Toddler Curriculum, promoting an active learning environment where infants & toddlers are explorers using all of their senses. Children are active participants, constructing their own knowledge of the world around them as they interact with it & work with interesting materials. Key developmental indicators for infants & toddlers, focusing on Sense of Self, Social Relations, Creative Representation, Movement, Music, Communication & Language, Exploring objects, Early Quantity & Number and Space & Time are carried out and assessed in natural play routines. Early forms of plan-do-review are incorporated for the older children to make choices, carry out their ideas and reflect on what they learn, gaining independence & communication skills. The program addresses all areas of development throughout the day incorporating activities for social, communication, physical & cognitive excellence. Older toddlers are encouraged to develop independence at the table & in the bathroom when they are ready. A total communication approach is utilized, incorporating sign language, object/picture communication & verbal skills.
